CN Fort Hills Spur
- Constructed 13,270 feet of new lead and yard tracks
- Installed 10 turnouts and ballast
- Surfaced the new track
CN commissioned this new track facility to handle rail cars from an industrial customer near its secondary mainline north of Edmonton, Alberta. The railway povided the property and design and secured PNR RailWorks to construct the new rail spur and gravel depot.
PNR RailWorks constructed 13,270 track feet of new lead and yard tracks, installed 10 turnouts and ballast, and surfaced the track on the new rail spur for CN.
At the request of its client CN, PNR RailWorks constructed the new rail spur in phases to allow for immediate use once each phase was completed. This approach created some construction challenges, which were minimized for all parties through close coordination with CN engineers. The project was executed in a tight time frame due to thorough planning and coordination with the client.
